Kerbie Privacy Policy

Last updated 20 August 2026 · Applies to the Kerbie app.

Kerbie is operated by ME MORE COOL PTY. LTD. (ABN 45 611 538 697) ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app collects and how we use it. The short version: we collect only what Kerbie needs to work, we never sell your data, and we never use it for advertising.

What we collect

  • Location — your device location is used to show finds near you, to verify that photos are taken at the kerb (posts must be taken within 200 m of your location), and to confirm pick-ups (within 100 m). Every post you make carries a pin that is public — anyone using Kerbie can see roughly where the photo was taken, and because you must be within 200 m to post, that is somewhere you were at the time. The pin is meant to be the item's spot on the kerb, so check it before you post. We do not track your location in the background.
  • Photos — posts are live camera photos of items on the kerb. Photos are stored securely and shown to nearby users.
  • What you write — the description you add to a post, and any comments you leave, are shown to everyone who opens that post, alongside your display name.
  • Account details — if you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your name and email address. If you browse as a guest, no account details are collected.
  • Payment identifier (optional) — if you choose to receive thank-you tips, the PayID you enter is shown to users who collect your items. We never process, hold or take a share of any payment; transfers happen entirely in users' own banking apps.
  • Push token — if you enable notifications, we store a device token and your chosen notification area to deliver alerts (max 2 per hour).

Where it lives

Data is stored with Supabase in Sydney, Australia (AWS ap-southeast-2). Photos are served through short-lived signed URLs.

We also keep daily operational backups on secure, access-restricted equipment we control in Australia, plus an encrypted offsite copy that only we can decrypt. Backups are kept for 30 days.

What we don't do

  • We don't sell your data.
  • We don't use third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
  • We don't process payments.

Retention & deletion

Posts expire from the map automatically after 24 hours. To delete your account and associated data, email support@memorecool.au and we will action it within 30 days.

Deleting your account removes your profile and display name, your saved notification area, your blocked-author list, your votes, and your PayID if you entered one. Posts you have made and comments you have left stay where they are, with your name taken off — we keep them so that the conversations other people took part in stay readable, and because removing a post would also remove the comments other people left on it. Nothing is kept for marketing. Where we are required to keep a record — for example a report you or someone else made about content — we keep only that record, and no longer than the law requires.
